Running for new mums and babies in remote Nepal

This year, our runners and walkers will be raising funds for the Bung Health Project.

Neo-natal mortality rates in the mountainous regions of Nepal are significantly higher than the national average, and the remote village of Bung is no exception.

The Bung Health Project is a community-based programme to improve neo-natal and maternity health in the area by training local health workers, providing equipment such as childbirth delivery sets, and increasing health awareness amongst the villagers.

Having access to good local care is vital for this community, but the Bung health post is currently under-resourced. Without the Bung health post, the only option for villagers in need of urgent care, including expectant mothers, is a two-day walk along steep mountain tracks to the nearest hospital.

Every dollar you raise through your running challenge will help give new babies and their mothers a better future.
