This year, on 20 July 2019, Sir Edmund Hillary would have turned 100. Sir Ed’s centenary year offers a unique opportunity to celebrate our greatest New Zealand hero, his remarkable achievements, his spirit of adventure, his humility, and his “can-do” attitude to helping others.
To mark this anniversary, the Himalayan Trust is holding a special Centenary Gala Dinner in Auckland on 17 July 2019.
Keynote speaker: Sir Ranulph Fiennes
We are excited to announce that our keynote speaker at the Gala Dinner will be Sir Ranulph Fiennes, named by the Guinness Book of Records as ‘the world’s greatest living explorer’. Sir Ranulph has spent his life in pursuit of extreme adventure. His achievements range from being the first to reach both Poles, the first to cross the Antarctic and Arctic Ocean, summitting Everest, and running seven marathons in seven days in seven countries.
Guest speaker Peter Hillary
Sir Ranulph Fiennes will be joined by Peter Hillary who, like his father, has dedicated his life to adventure and philanthropy.
We hope you can join us. Make sure you add the date and details to your diary today.
